NCIST visits RCS KJ Campus
On 13th September, 2018, Raffles Christian School (RCS), KebonJeruk Campus invitedkey representatives from North China Institute of Science and Technology (NCIST). The school leaders from Raffles Group of Schoolsheaded by Director of Schools, Mr. Gary Tan with Deputy Director, Mr. Satyajeet Gurung as well as the Deans from the Pondok Indah campus, Dr. Daniel Low,KelapaGading campus, Mr. Allan F. Tabien and the host KebonJeruk campus, Mr. Amos Lee withall the Chinese HODs were present to meet with them.
NCIST representatives who came werethe Vice President,Mr. Ma Shun Hai,the Dean of College of Literatureand Law,Mr. Yang Zhi Wu, the Dean of College of Foreign Languages, Mr. Zhou Guang Wei,the Deputy Dean of College of Literature and Law, Ms. Wang Liand Ms. Xu Ya Qi, the Program Manager of International Cooperation Center.
During the visit, the NCIST representatives were presented with the RCS school vision, mission and curriculum. They were also introduced to the school’s niche programme designed specially to foster innovating teaching strategies through the use of Mushroom Farming and Vermicomposting. Students are given opportunities to experience firsthand knowledge on experiencing science by cultivating their own mushroom farm. They are also given opportunities to grow their plants in the Herbal Garden as well as developing their own paper recyclingproject to develop the joy of learning science and environmental protection.
During the visit, Mr. Gary Tanintroduced the history, school background and achievements of the Raffles Group of Schools.The Chinese Language Head of Departments (HODs)also took the opportunity to highlightthe NCIST teachers’ contributions. The representatives from NCIST were very impressed with theschool’s developmental plan for the NCIST teachers andits structured programme to nurture a culture of excellence in teaching Mandarin to non-native speakers.
