Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,
Welcome to Academic Year 2026–2027.
Every new school year is more than the turning of a calendar. It is an opportunity to begin again—with fresh hope, renewed purpose, and the chance to become a better version of ourselves. As I reflected on this year, I found myself returning to a simple question: What is the true purpose of education?
Many people know me today as an educator and school leader. What they may not know is that during my upper secondary school years, I struggled with both Mathematics and Additional Mathematics. There were times when I questioned whether I would ever do well. Yet one of my teachers saw something in me that I could not yet see in myself. Rather than allowing my results to define me, the teacher believed that perseverance, together with consistent effort, could change my future.
That belief changed my mindset.
For the next one and a half years, I spent about ninety minutes every day working through Mathematics and Additional Mathematics problems. Progress was slow, and there were many moments of frustration. Yet each attempt strengthened something beyond academic ability—it built resilience, discipline, and confidence. When I eventually achieved a distinction in my national examination, I realised that success was never mine alone. It was made possible by a teacher who believed in me, parents who encouraged me, classmates who journeyed alongside me, and a school community that refused to let me give up.

That experience continues to shape my belief about education.
Every child carries unique potential. Some discover it quickly, while others need time, encouragement, and someone who believes in them before they believe in themselves. Our responsibility is not simply to prepare students for examinations, but to help them discover who they are, develop the courage to persevere, and use their gifts to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
This year also marks an exciting milestone as our Pre-Primary programme begins implementing the Cambridge Early Years curriculum. Through age-appropriate, inquiry-based, and play-rich learning experiences, we will continue to nurture curiosity, confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning from the earliest years.
Our orientation theme this year, “Discover Your Light, Find Your Companion,” captures what I hope every member of our community will experience. Each of us has been entrusted with unique gifts waiting to be discovered. At the same time, none of us grows alone. God places people in our lives—parents, teachers, friends, mentors, and classmates—to encourage us, challenge us, and walk alongside us. Just as one teacher changed the course of my own journey, each of us has the opportunity to become that companion for someone else.
As we begin this academic year, I invite you to reflect on two questions: What is the light within you waiting to be discovered? And whose journey might be transformed because you chose to encourage, support, or believe in them?
My prayer is that this will be a year in which every student is known, every teacher is inspired, every parent is valued, and every member of our community grows in wisdom, character, and purpose. Together, let us continue to learn, to lead, and to love.
May God bless our school community throughout the year ahead.
